Money Matters

Course Description

In this course on money matters, students explore choices they face as consumers, producers, investors, and taxpayers. Topics of study include supply and demand, theories of value, money (what it is, how it evolved, the role of financial institutions), the Federal Reserve, how capitalism functions, markets (from historic and contemporary perspectives), factors of economic growth, unemployment, inflation, the national debt, and globalization. Students will also consider personal financial goals, career interests, job performance, workplace climate, paying taxes, banking, investment options, and financial decision making. The course provides opportunities for students to apply what they learn in real-world simulation activities.
